45 - Sensational Preaching

Dr. Alan Carr Episode 45

It's happened to all of us at one time or another. We've preached the Word, but we feel our efforts were fruitless. We leave the church feeling like we bored the congregation to tears. We resolve that next time, we will be more sensational and memorable. So we resort to theatrics and high-octane sermons to attract and hold our listeners' attention. I want to recommend a better way. I am convinced God is honored when we preach the Word of God as it is written on the pages of the Bible. God will keep his Word, Isaiah 55:11, feeding his people, saving the lost, calling home the wayward, and challenging us to provide more profound and more excellent service. This happens not because we are such talented preachers but because God honors the faithful preaching of his Word.

Preacher, be yourself. Preach the Word of God clearly and to the best of your ability. Trust the Lord to honor his Word, and he will.
