II.  NOTICE THE SERMONS DAVID DELIVERED
A.  V. 3-4  David Preached About His Reliance Upon God - David spoke to himself about his trust in the Lord. He vowed to praise the Lord in his troubles and trust the Lord regardless of what others could do to him. By the way, don’t miss the contrast between the word “God” and the word “flesh.”  He knew God was eternal, while the flesh was mortal.

In verse 1, David says, “man would swallow me up.” The word “man” refers to “a mortal man.” It speaks of one who is temporary, passing, dying. In contrast to mortal flesh, David talks about “God.” This is the word “Elohim.” It speaks of “the supreme God.” It refers to One Who is “eternal, undying, and in supreme control.” God’s name in verse 2 pictures God as the lofty, exalted, transcendent God. He is the God Who is in complete control!

B.  V. 7  David Preached About The Righteousness Of God - David preached about the ultimate justice awaiting his enemies. He knew that one day, all the people who attacked, oppressed, and harmed him would answer to the Lord.

C.  V. 8  David Preached About The Regard Of God - David preaches about the omniscience of God.  God sees all our sorrows and keeps a record of our troubles. He records our steps. He bottles our tears. He keeps perfect records of our lives.“tellest” means to “inscribe, tally, record.”

D.  V. 9  David Preached About The Reliability Of God - David preached to himself this great truth: God had his back. He wasn’t as alone as the flesh said he was. The Lord was there, and the Lord was faithful. He told himself the day would come when God would scatter his enemies because God was on David’s side.

E.  V. 10-12  David Preached About His Rest In God - Despite all he faces, David preaches a message of hope to himself. He reminds himself of Who God is. God is true, faithful, and worthy of praise, regardless of his circumstances. David reminds himself about his vow to serve the Lord. He will rest in his commitment and praise God despite all his trials and enemies.

F.  V. 13  David Preached About His Relationship With God - David preaches to himself the Lord’s saving grace. He is in a saving relationship with God, and God will not forsake him during his trouble. David knew he might be stumbling along, but eventually, the Lord would deliver him from sorrow, sufferin
